The art of liposuction

Plastic surgery is more than just science at its best. Some physicians, like Dr. John Millard, believe it is more like an art form. And with a new liposuction treatment available that chisels out a patient’s muscle structure, Dr. Millard might just be right.

“The patient is the canvas,” explained Dr. Millard. “We’re sculpting living, breathing works of art.”

Millard is one of four plastic surgeons at Lone Tree’s bod:evolve specializing in a new high-definition body sculpting treatment that not only removes excess fat like traditional liposuction, but also contours the body, adding definition to the patient’s physique.

“My typical patient works out between three and six times a week, has worked as hard as they can to get the body shape they want, and has hit the limitations of age, genetics and time,” said Dr. Millard. “They may have excess bulges, fat that is almost impossible to lose. The reality is, you can’t have the body on the front of Men’s Health magazine you desire if you don’t starve yourself and live in that world of modeling.”

Using this specialized treatment, Dr. Millard and his partner Dr. David Broadway are able to give patients six-pack abs, among other enhancements.

“We’re actually taking the underlying anatomy and projecting it onto the skin,” said Dr. Broadway. “It’s really fun. You can take a lady that looks pretty good to begin with and make her look like a rock star.”

Dr. Millard became the first surgeon in the U.S. to practice this special liposuction procedure, and now teaches it to doctors worldwide. Both men and women can benefit from the body sculpting treatment, although men make up the larger percentage of patients.
